Fashionista - WiP

Work in Progess.

Haha, me fashionista. I actually think this statement is hilarious. I'm moving house, again. My life is in boxes. Again. Or splattered over my bed like a clothing grenade just gone off. My clothes are not in a wardrobe they are in two boxes (which makes a difference from 3 full ones). I have one box for t-shirts and jeans and one for dresses and skirts. I started taking pictures of my clothes but got bored.

...Oh my boxes are 80 litres...

...I know.

So, I've been looking for a wardrobe. I can't decide whether I want a spruced up shiny shiny one that is slightly expensive (eventually) or one of the cheaper ones from Argos. They have a 3 door one which I think I'll need. :) But with wardrobes comes coat hangers... and coat hangers, let's be honest are helpful but the bane of anybody's life, and you can't deny it. You add up all the hangers and you're still short of a skirt one, or you need one for a pretty shirt you don't want to spoil but all you've got are the rubbish ones that can barely hold a tie never mind your shirt. Then there's the decision of whether to hang up your t-shirts or fold them into your drawers, but if they are in your drawer you can't see the ones at the bottom and then you end up mix-matching and looking like you've just gotten out of bed.

See my woes?

I am trying to find some sort of closet tidy thing that holds a lot of clothes but still lets you see them all so you can work out what you have and what you don't need. And I'm looking for a shoe tidy to push under my bed but I won't get started on one of those... I have 4 drawers full of shoes, and some downstairs on the shoe-rack. Hmm...

Polyvore: Red is Reality

Well, I've mentioned Polyvore before and I was looking through my spring colours collection and found I was missing the colour Red, or rather I was missing every other colour besides varations on green and brown. So I decided through Polyvore to see what colours in my spring palette would go with red, it's not letter box red though, I've found it's more burgandy or amber red. It looks perfect with cream and brown. I am loving it loads. And I finally found a website (meaning polyvore) where I can collect all the colours in my spring palette in one place! (Sorry for the big gaps, just the picture I'm afraid).

Someone once told me it is all about the accessories, the earrings, necklaces, scarves... etc, and now I kind of believe them since one scarf can bring a whole outfit together. I just wish I had the money spare to just go out and buy a nice cream jacket. Then it's all about body shape. I'd say I'm just a nice big round but actually I'm pear-shaped and you have to wear specific fittings of clothing for your shape. It all gets confusing you know. I can't believe some people just have this stuff automatically generated into their brains whereas for me, I have to learn this stuff.
I have a confession to make, I used to HATE gold. Despise it. I didn't like the look of it at all and I'd much rather have a white gold wedding ring BUT this deep ashburn red that I really starting to love goes brilliantly with gold, cream and brown. It just looks gorgeous don't you think? Well, maybe eventually I'll have some money to get some really good items of clothing together. Now I've got my colours sorted and what should wear its about time to start minimising my wardrobe. Yes, I mean it. I've been at my dad's this week picking up the rest of my clothes and let me just tell you, I love skirts, but I really don't need anymore, not at least until I either have the money to buy some OR I get rid of an old, or both really. So, what I'm going to do is take picture of ALL my clothes put them online and see what goes with what... like a collage. I think it's going to be fun.

On another plus side, I have ALL my art things back too YAY! So more art work to be up when I get chance and space to do any.

My Loves - Polyvore

I'm actually in love with this website (Sorry Adam) because it is just A-MAZE-ING. It makes me look like a slight sign of fashion sense. It is a brilliant website. I think it works by bringing all the clothes from all of the shops online (or at least a lot of the shops online) and categorizes them. Then you mix and match until you find your perfect mix. Only problem with having a fashion sense matching the one on the website, I need to have a money tree that matches it! But seriously, I have an outfit that is very similar to this one, just without the green top or the gorgeous bangles.

A Pleasant Peasant Skirt

I've been trying to find a pattern everywhere for a really good long gypsy skirt. I've also tried to convice my mum into helping me with the sewing machine so I can make the skirt myself. I can use a sewing machine easily, but it'll be my first time making a skirt in a long while and plus... it's a lot of work and why not.

Mum said I didn't need any more gypsy skirts but to be honest in the Summer heat, you can never have too many and the benefits of making one yourself is that you can choose the colours and the length. I find that most the skirts I buy these days are too short, or even worse too long! Plus if I make a skirt with all my colours in it then I can't possibly moan about not having anything to wear it with. I think it'll be a July project though because of lack of funds, even after I've budgeted!

I have three long gypsy skirts, one is white with blue patterns (mostly flowers), one is like an auburn/maroon/chocolatey colour is all I can describe it as with patterned ruffles at each tier then I have a green one that goes from a turquoise green at the bottom to a mint green at the top. But I haven't seen those skirts in ages and who knows whether they'll even fit my big bum anymore! That's also the plus side of making your own... they fit you exactly. No worrying about the size or anything like that.

The amount of material I'll need for each layer won't cost me that much either! I might challenge myself to buy materials for the skirt that cost less than an actual skirt but we'll see. I really hope so. I love gypsy skirts and the way they flow and you can still wear them in winter!

This could go horribly wrong but wish me luck! Who know's I might start making them for other people if mine turns out 'okay'.

Green is the new Green

I love green!

I've always loved green, emerald green usually because it's just so GREEEEN!
So today I've been looking around for green everything. Dresses/Accessories/SHOES!/T's. There is a website I used to go on that'd give you a collage of your favourite items in the colours that you preferred and would tell you what items of clothing were in fashion at the time and what other colours would go with the ones you'd picked...

It was actually really useful but I've totally lost it. Nevermind. It's supposed to be coming up to Summer time and today we had a peek of what is hopefully to come but I read in the paper that showers from some ocean somewhere were on their way but this is Britain and I'm sorry peeps but right now I'd welcome a bit of rain! There I said it, so I take full responsibility if it actually does rain (in the next day or so).

What I also love about the colour emerald green or just green in general is that you can wear really plain/simple clothes like cream T with a bright green neckace and green bag and it looks really good. Of course, it might not look good on everyone because not everyone can look good in vibrant green. I know for a fact I look weird in UV green but my sister Emily looks amazing in it. I'm sure I heard somewhere that you should wear tops/accessories/make-up that compliment your eye colour which means for me... green, and brown, and yellow, and who knows what ever other colours my eyes decide to go in the day. I did have a photo somewhere that had me with vibrant green eye shadow on (sadly all my best make-up is still at my dads house, which will be rectified soon), so I'll try and find it and put it up.

On my green travels on google :) I came across this living room and it is just so GORGEOUS! I love it, I want to take it home and put it in my living room. The arm chairs are a bit bright but for reason it just all looks right and I love the large sun thingy in the background. The colours are gorgeous, now to transfer those colours from fabric on a sofa to fabric in a dress and t-shirt, oh and also to have the funds to buy what I would like to as well.

I am thinking of embarking on a little journey of buying a skirt pattern in town and buying some material and making my own skirt :D So watch this space. What better way to get a skirt that you like that to make it yourself?

Women's Wedges Wonder Woman!

Hmmm.

I am shopped out. But, I had a good shoe shop. Luckily today I started work early which meant I finished early, which meant I could go shopping. YAY! Which is weird. I'm not actually really one for clothes shopping. At least, I didn't think I was. I can't afford to shop anyway, only on a budget.

But today, my eyes were on the prize. Wedges! And what better place to go for shopping, in the middle of the afternoon when you live in Bradford and you have a bus pass... The White Rose Shopping Centre. For a few reasons really:

1. Bethany has never been there before... like ohh...emmm...duuurrr.
2. There are like, LOADS of clothes shops in there
3. It's obviously nicer than Bradford and more compact than Leeds.

One thing Bethany did mention about shopping for shoes was the fact that we could go into ANY shop that sold women's clothes & accessories and look at shoes. Usually we avoid topshop (we're not skinny rakes) and places like River Island etc.. but because we were shopping for shoes it didn't matter what size the clothes were because I was always going to be a size 6 and Bethany is always going to be a size 7/8 (She has weird feet). We started in Debenhams and I think we finished in River Island.

One word of warning for anyone buying shoes from Oasis in The White Rose and you DON'T have or want a store card... run. Run away now. Before you try and get accostered by the oh so lovely sales people in there. I am sure she meant well, like the shoes/wedges I tried on were gorgeous and I was so close to spending way more than I should on them but she kept pushing the stupid store card on me, which I was clearly trying to be nice about and said 'no', 'I'd just lose it' etc, I said all the excuses I could come up with, but she just wouldn't shut up. I mean she said "I'll just put these to one side for you to come back for later" uhm... if I had wanted to save them for later, I'd have asked you? I didn't say that to her though. Like I said, I'm sure she was a nice girl, but she was just being too pushy.

And I hate pushy.

I went for cream today and blue, I loved some blue ones in who knows what shop now, I think it was NewLook, who let me down in the shoe department today; it's not even half the size of the shoe area in Bradford, but I was generally going for cream. I eventually bought some from Garage that looked a lot like the ones I was going to buy from Oasis, only the ones in Garage were about £35 cheaper...

Then we meandered into Primark, accidentally. It's my fault, because I saw some jewellery I really liked and went and bought it and Bethany decided to wander upstairs so I followed. There's a lot of shoes in there. She tried some on, I tried some on. Then I bought... another pair. These ones are lower though, the wedges are quite high (for me), so they can be like my cool down pair for when I'm too tired of wearing the higher ones, they are brown.

When we got home, I tried them on with at least 4/5 outfits in my wardrobe, sad I know, but I just wanted to make sure they were right, and they look pretty nice, so I'm glad of my choices today.

Hope everyone is getting used to being back at work since the long weekend. Let me know what you think of my shoes.

Yesterday's Fun = Today's Dilemma

Yesterday was just a normal Saturday like any other besides the fact that I woke up feeling absolutely rubbish! I didn't want to move and I had a million things that I needed to do; like clean my bedroom.

I txted my mum (I know, I'm lazy) and asked her where she was going because I could hear someone leave the house, but mum hobbled up the stairs; she has patella tendonitis, and said "I'm going into town later". I figured I could do with the fresh air so asked if I could go along. I mean there's nothing like a bit of sunshine *cough* rain *cough* to waken someone's spirits; plus she offered to buy me brunch, how could I refuse?

So, as I dragged myself out of bed and saw myself in the mirror, I grabbed the nearest clothing to me and shoved it on. I wasn't in the mood for anything besides a spot of brunch. I trudged downstairs and mum handed me some pennies; 'spend money' I think she called it. I wasn't complaining although I wasn't quite sure of what I was going to spend it on.

We wandered out of the house, shuffled onto the bus and meandered through the various charity shops mum wanted to go into. I don't what the problem is that I have with charity shops. I mean I used to work in one, I fully and totally support them but whenever I get enough money to go shopping I just never seem to find myself in one. Mum was determined to find a jumper/summer cardigan; on the other hand I still had no idea what I wanted.

First shop we went to I picked out a skirt and top, tried them on, they fit perfectly... Win! So I got them. Then we went into another Charity shop, British Heart Foundation I think, I picked up 3/4 stuff, including a skirt and top, which look really pretty on. I've been looking for a denim skirt for ages and it looks so nice so I bought it and the top to go with it. So at this point the ratio of my shopping to mums was pretty much 4:0. I think she may have been getting a bit restless, because that's when we stopped for brunch; my arm's already dangling bags.

*my firefox just went off and this is as much of the post blogspot saved so forgive the disjointed flow of the post whilst I get my bearings back*

Eventually, mum got what she wanted from the shops and we went home. Which, brings me back to my dilemma of today. I was cleaning out my room, as you do, and I found a bag of give-away stuff that was in my room full of baby essentials that must have been going to someone somewhere and some point in the past before we forgot about it. Also in the bag was a smaller bag full of my mum's old clothes, I thought "Well I've filled out a bit why not try them on", so I did, why not. I mean they'd probably been sat there collecting dust since I moved home over 6 months ago now. Shocking, that it's been that long.

I found 3 skirts and a few tops and some jeans, so I aquired a total of 5 skirts in 2 days! I definitely don't need any more skirts now, but this brings me to another dilemma of my day, I mean what am I going to do with all these skirts? I need to buy a pair of shoes for all skirts. I am thinking of buying a pair this month and next month, I'm going with a cream pair and a brown pair I think, or navy blue since most of the things I wear are blue; like jeans and uhm jeans.

It's a good job I go to church in Sunday best otherwise I don't think I'd be able to wear them all. They are all different too, which is good but bad when it comes to finding things to match them. Plus, there is always summer coming which will be nice.

I'm still coughing well, apparently they say coughing is the body's way of getting rid of the germs. Oh and sorry for the quality of the pictures they were taken on my iPhone in the evening in front of a mirror. Useless + Useless = Useless (shame that's not a double negative).

Have a nice Bank Holiday Monday everyone. I get to see Adam! Woo!

I still have another 4/5 skirts, not including the two that are currently drying over my staircase banister!

All a Woman Needs is a Good Pair of Shoes

Or 50. Pairs of shoes I mean.

I don't actually have any really nice pairs of shoes. But this month my brain is determined to have some shiney new ones that have heels; will make me tower over my boyfriend, and probably cause some great discomfort in the long- run. BUT I WANT THEM!!

Due to lack of funds I can only get one pair and that is sacrificing my new summer jacket; my reasoning for this is that I have a perfectly wearable black summer jacket it's just not my colour... so I can bear wearing the wrong colour coat for another month! I very rarely wear high heeled shoes, probably because I think I can't walk in them but in actual fact I can.

I was just told how to walk in them wrong. So now I want a pair of shoes. I am going for wedges because the general consensus is that they are easier to walk in... although I've no idea how anybody could drive in them. Practice I suppose. Unless my manager slips on a pair of trainers for her drive home.

I don't want to buy a pair of black shoes, because nothing I am suppose to wear is black so I was thinking more navy or brown. I also tend not to wear high shoes for church because I'll only end up taking them off as I race after a child down a corridor... But heels will make me feel all grown-up or something, bearing in mind I am like 22.

I want to find a pair of shoes that will go with at least 3/4 outfits that I have. I want them to be able to go with Sunday dress and with something I could wear for work, which means buying either longer jeans or suit trousers. All my suit tops are at my dads... like half my wardrobe is at my dads! Atrocious! I need it noow!! There is a gorgeous cardigan that I left down there which would go with half my wardrobe, but it's useless down there, gathering dust too I presume. I haven't been there since before Christmas!

Anyway, shoes... yes I want some. I must admit NewLook seems to be top of a lot of peoples lists for shoes, so I'll start there.

P.S. Most pics are from NewLook and Dorothy Perkins. I love the blue ones at the top.

Rules are Fashionable

Hey Kidders,

I've decided that fashion rules are there to be broken... Haha. I jokes. My hair was an absolute nightmare it was just crazy; like I'd stuck my finger in plug socket and although I've never actually done that before you see it on cartoons! My hair was uncontrollably (is that even a word?) massive. The only thing I could think of to calm the craziness was to stick a hat over it. The only hat I had was like this bright blue one! In fact I'd say it was like ice-blue, and I've aquired it from my sister, Emily; so I'm not even sure it is my colour.

In short notice I had to find something to go with new and essential accessory to my outfit. I searched and had nothing. I found a purple/blue t-shirt from M&S that I bought a couple of weeks ago, still with the tag on so I thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and stick it on.... Only it is seriously the wrong blue and I personally feel it's just too short, why don't they make t-shirts nice and long anymore? For the half an hour I had left at home I felt completely on show every two minutes when my t-shirt rode up to see my belt... it just wouldn't do. I rushed upstairs and put on my cute top from Matalan, only it's a tad see through, so I put the blue T on underneath, which looked ridiculous, but what can ya do?

Hence, the scarf. It hid (kinda) the blue and cream faux pas. I topped off that mess with a blue cardigan that I stole from my mum, which I think is 2 sizes too big for me... yup I just checked and it is. Cut to me leaving the house looking like a cross between a hippy and a jumble clothes sale. I am surprised my best friend didn't tell me to turn around and leave when I got to Starbucks this evening.

I've managed to calm my hair down now, I just didn't have time earlier, that, plus the fact that I couldn't be bothered to actually do anything. Note to self, wake up earlier to sort out bush on top of head... another note to self, buy a new hat and make sure it's in my colours...

...Last note to self, never ever ever wear too many shades of blue at once, you'll give people a heart attack.
